Committed to pursuing a strategy to achieve a high-income developed nation status, the Government is targeting to attract an investment of RM 120 billion a year from the private sector for the next 10 years—which indeed is a tall order! Attracting 92% of a total RM 1.4 trillion investment over that 10-year period into the nation's economy will be much dependent on the private sector's initiatives—and principally through raising funds from the Malaysian Capital Market.

Clearly, the key drivers of Malaysia's private sector are the Corporate Directors who spearhead the nation's engine of economic growth. They are the entrepreneurs, the captains of industry and corporate thought leaders—the invaluable human capital resource that defines the global competitive edge of Corporate Malaysia. It is this human capital resource that MACD endeavors to develop and harness on a long-term and consistent basis.

Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors (MACD), a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee, is a membership-based "civil society." MACD has taken upon itself the role to develop and enhance the Malaysian human capital resources by equipping Corporate Directors to be globally competitive. To achieve this goal, besides putting together for Corporate Directors comprehensive Directors Peer-to-Peer learning experiences, we now introduce the first ever Corporate Directors Conference 2011 (CDC 2011) in Malaysia.

In tune with an increasingly globalized economy, we have gathered together some of the world's renowned international and local speakers for the event. Aptly conceived, the Conference is themed "The Resurgence of Corporate Malaysia"—as numerous Government initiatives have already been introduced to raise Malaysia to be a high-income developed nation in the next 10 years—and to be globally competitive. To underscore the theme is MACD's own creed: Enterprise, Integrity, Sustainability.

The CDC 2011 brings together a well-designed Agenda of local and international Corporate Thought Leaders, Seasoned Directors and Governance Professionals to share their experience and views for Corporate Malaysia in moving forward to realize the nation's aspirations.
